Join artist Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq for a Deaf-led tour of ‘The Coming of Age’. She will guide you through selected objects and themes in the exhibition, including adolescence and how experiences of age vary across cultures and societies.

The tour will be delivered in British Sign Language (BSL), with no voiceover or audio. You’ll have opportunities to ask questions and share your perspectives. All commentary and conversation will take place in BSL.

Location

We’ll meet at the Information Point, which is on level 0, directly in front of you as you enter Wellcome Collection.

Place not guaranteed

Booking a ticket for a free, in-person event does not guarantee you a place. You should aim to arrive 15 minutes before the event is scheduled to start to claim your place. If you do not arrive on time, your place may be given to someone on the waiting list.

Waiting list

If this event is fully booked, you may still be able to attend. We will operate a waiting list, which opens 30 minutes before this event starts. Arrive early, and we’ll give you a numbered ticket. If there are any unfilled places just before the start time, we will invite you to enter in order of ticket number.

Rubbena Aurangzeb-Tariq

Rubbena is a London-based Muslim Deaf Pakistani-British artist. Primarily a painter and installation artist, she also uses film and animation to explore intersecting identities across cultures, and the dynamic relationship between language and lived experience. She has worked with both Deaf and hearing communities, leading art workshops and BSL tours for organisations including the Hayward Gallery, Wallace Collection and The King's Gallery. Rubbena has exhibited in New York, Washington DC, London, Paris, South Korea and Canada.
