Southwell, Secretary of State for Ireland, requesting Protec- tion for his Protestant Tenants in Munster, his brother the Earl of Burlington having obtained the like favour, in fine stale, 1/. lli. Gd. - dug. 5th, 1690 A most interesting specimen of this highly talented writer. 410 Boyle (Rich.) first Earl of Burlington, Autograph Letter to Sir Robt. Southwell, 1/. li. - dug. 14, 1690 An interesting specimen, thanking Sir Robert for having procured his Majesty’s protection for his tenants against the French, who had landed in that neighbourhood; informs him the militia are sent home much disappointed at not having had an opportunity of showing their courage against the French ; trust those who invited them will be justly punished for such traitorous practices, lice. His Lordship was brother to the celebrated R. Boyle. 411 Boyle (Hon. Hen.) afterwards Lord Carleton, J. Smith, Esq. and Sir Stephen Fox, Autographs to an Order for the payment of 500/. to Lord Richard Lumley, Earl of Scarborough, his half-year’s Pension, as one of the Gentlemen of his Majesty’s Bedchamber, 10s. 6d. - - 6th Nov. 1700 412 Boyle (J.) Dublin, Sept. 1st, 1703 413 Boys (John) Long Autograph Letter to Sir Egerton Brydges, 5s. - - Margate, Sept. 9, 1817 An interesting letter to the Kentish collector, in which the writer solicits his assistance to procure the clerkship to the justices of the Wiugham division, Margate having become obnoxious to him from the high party feeling expressed against him for writing in vindication of Mr. Rennie, the celebrated engineer, relating to the Margate pier, &c.
