Join us to mark 50 years since the publication of psychiatrist John Bowlby’s landmark book, ‘Attachment’. Hear Dr Robbie Duschinsky discuss his research on the differences between Bowlby’s public persona and private reflections. He will explore Bowlby’s ideas on the psychology of trauma and abuse, and the reason why many of these remained unpublished during Bowlby’s lifetime. Following his paper there will be an opportunity for you to discuss his ideas.
We’ll be in the Viewing Room. It’s next to the Library entrance on level 2, which you can reach by taking the lift or the stairs.

Dr Robbie Duschinsky is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Cambridge, and Director of Studies at Sidney Sussex College. With Kate White, he is co-editor of a forthcoming selection of finished but unpublished papers by Bowlby, entitled ‘Trauma and Loss: Key Texts from the John Bowlby Archive’.
