Come and hear Dr Emma Purce discuss her research on freak shows and British seaside culture between 1900 and 1950. Using Wellcome ephemera and health texts, she will explore changes and continuities between Victorian shows and 20th-century seaside entertainments. Following her paper there will be an opportunity for you to discuss her ideas.
We’ll be in the Viewing Room. It’s next to the Library entrance on level 2, which you can reach by taking the lift or the stairs.

Emma completed her Wellcome Trust-funded PhD in December 2017. She is currently an Associate Lecturer in the School of History at University of Kent.
