What you’ll do
Watch a newly commissioned performance created by artist Eduardo Navarro that breaks down the boundaries between humans and trees.
In this movement-based piece, five dancers in bark costumes will take the form of the trees around them. The performance grows into the space in a meditative contemplation of nature.
The fabric of the costumes mirrors the bark of the London plane tree (Platanus x acerifolia) and the performance will take place under the London plane trees of Malet Street Gardens.
The event is durational, so you will be free to arrive and leave at any time during the two hours. You’ll be standing for the performance but some seating will be available if you require it.
Malet Street Gardens is a private space in Bloomsbury, London with a double-gated entrance on Malet Street. it is a sunken garden with step-free access but there are some steep slopes and uneven paving.
The performance is linked to Eduardo Navarro's artwork an ‘Index of Shapes’, a prototype skin suit on display in the ‘Rooted Beings’ exhibition at Wellcome Collection.
