What you’ll do

This workshop will invite visitors to consider how plant structures can redefine how we think about intelligence. You’ll trace the history of how natural networks have inspired engineering solutions and you’ll have the opportunity to explore the collections and consider the boundaries between the natural and artificial. How can single-celled slime mould solve mazes? And how has slime been used to re-create the Tokyo subway system? This event is inspired by ‘Rooted Beings‘.

Afterwards, you’ll move to the Reading Room to engage in a three-dimensional map-making activity.
