Powder of Union is [sulphur] and Crude [mercury] powdered up in marble mortar, black in colour, very effective for worms, festering ulcers and spitting of blood. Dose 1 drachm with rose or similar con serve. I gave more than \ ounce in a week to a boy of 3, thus curing his malignant and crusty ulcers without any perceptible operation. I gave to this boy a dose of 1 scruple. After at most the third dose it always stops spitting of blood, as I've several times experienced.
