Thej are mistaken, if they suppose for a moment, that we undervalue their labours, or mean to throw any reflection upon the in- telligence, the ability, and the vigour of thought, which they have displayed in the composition of these Essays. With the exception of the one fault, to which we have just adverted, [this exception, the authors conceive, they have satisfactorily removed in their reply to the eastern critics] we must express our unequivocal approbation of the general spirit, and the manly diction, which pervade their writings, and which, we hope, will not fail to inspire our professional brethren in the country at large, to imi- tate the example of our enterprising friends. On taking leave of this interesting volume, we beg permission of the authors, to urge them to the promised continuation of their Essays.
