Biographical note
Thomas Gardner was born in April 1880 in Govan, Lanarkshire. He obtained a Bachelors degree from the University of Edinburgh in 1907, before going on to achieve his M. D. at the same institution. He was later elected a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinbugh.
