Virgil, Aeneid, VI.791-795: "Hic vir, hic est, tibi quem promitti saepius audis / Augustus Caesar, divi genus, aurea condet / saecula: qui rursus Latio regnata per arva / Saturno quondam, super et Garamantas et Indos proferet imperium." (This is the man, this he is, whom you often hear promised to you, Augustus Caesar, offspring of a god, will found a golden age: he will extend his empire over the fields formerly ruled by Saturn in Latium, and beyond the garamentes and Indians). In the midddleground are three figures: a man with a turban (Anchises, the speaker, a Dardanian prince and father of Aeneas), Aeneas, and the Cumaean sibyl. In the foreground is a line of military men, possibly Romulus and Remus, Virgil (?), Augustus, and his descendants up to mediaeval and early modern Holy Roman Emperors
