No text description is available for this image![[6] only not to eat any Thing for near an Hour before or. a%r taking it; and it will open all Manner of Obftrudtionsy ftrengthen the Stomach, purify the Blood, rectify the Juices^ take away all -Palenefs, Dullnefs, Weaknefs, Difficulty of Breathing, and Pain in the Stomach, create an Appetite, caufe a good Digeftion, bring a good Colour into the Face, and make the Patient brisk, lively, adtive, and healthy to Ad¬ miration. It is made thus. No. 2. The Opening Powder. Take Winter’s Cinnamon, Cloves, Nutmegs, of each one Scruple ; Compound Powder of Arum Root, one Dram, Prepar’d Steely half an Ounce; double Refold Loaf-Sugar, one Ounce; of my Aperitive Magiftery, an Ounce and half; mix and make a fuhtile Powder according to Art, which keep in a warm dry Place for life. But if either the Deficiency, or the total Supprejfion of the Courfes is of long Handing, or lhould prove ftubborn, and not be removed after taking this Powder for a whole Month or thirty Days together, which will very feldom, if ever happen, then it will be necehary to take another Dofe of the Purging Pills, and the Day after that, the Powder again in like Order as before, and lb to continue it till the Illnefs is effedlually cured, which will foon be, obferving all the while fhe is under this Courfe, to eat frefh Meat, rather roalled than boil’d, and other Food that is good and eafy of Digeftion, and to abftain from Fruit, Greens, and* Herbs, and alfo not to drink too freely of fmall Liquors, fuch as Tea, fmall Beer, fsV. but only what is fufficient to quench Drought; for fmall Liquors being drank quickly after taking the Powder, or in too large a Quantity, will not only prevent its having fo good Ef- fedt as otherwife it would, but alfo caufe a little Sickiftinefs at the Stomach. But if at any time the Powder fhould happen to lie heavy at the Stomach, or make the Patient a little lickifh, hie may prefently be reliev’d from that, or any other Inconvenience, by drinking a Glafs of good White-Wine. Note, If it is apprehended that the Patient wants Purging pretty much, and her Strength will admit of it, {lie may then take two or three Dofes of the Purging Pills before hie begins the Opening Powder, always interpoling one Day at leaft be¬ tween each Dole.
