About this work
Description
RNA interference can potentially switch off any gene in our cells and is also potentially under our control. If scientists get full control of this potential, a molecule could be programmed to switch off the gene of a virus for instance, or even cancer causing genes. Peter Evans traces the history of this research which originates in work done on the colour of petunia petals, and looks at the latest developments in the field of RNAi.
