There is one general remark, for which we are indebted to Dr. Willan, namely, that fcarlet fe¬ ver exhibits during the fummer months, a mild train of fymptoms, foon terminates favourably, • without producing any material .affedlion of the throat. For fome years paft, it has generally been moft virulent in the months of O61;ober and No- vember.’^^—As the autumn of the fame year (179b) advanced, he'obferves, fcarlatina, which is now extenfively difFufed, has fince the beginning of September aflumed its more malignant and dan¬ gerous form.”~^^ In this form the difeale ufually proves fatal to infants on the 7th or 8th day.^-j- — Again, in his Report for November, 1799> fcarlet fever has increafed fuice the laft report, both in ex¬ tent and the violence of its fymptoms.'And in the following month, fcarlatina has been attended with violent fymptoms, and in two cafes [out of eight] ' proved fatal.
