Bodysnatchers. Part 1, Travel parasites.

First of three programmes looking at parasite encounters. We meet a variety of people whose bodies have been invaded by parasites and follow them through their hospital treatments. We see how the tape worm develops in the body as biologist Mike Leighy deliberately grows a tape worm in order to research its effects in detail. The programme also contains a wide range of microscopic footage of different kinds of parasites, both those that we all are home to, and those which lead to varying degrees of illness.
