    PREFATORY REMARKS. The negligent manner in which Medical Stu- dents have in many instances prepared themselves for their examination at Apothecaries' Hall, alike fatal to theu' becoming qualified, and discredi- table to them as members of the profession; with the recent announcement from the Examiners at Apothecaries' Hall of their determination to ex- amine in future all applicants in a more strict and general sense than hitherto, has induced the present work. Most Medical Students know something more or less of the Latin language previous to their attending lectures, but the te- dium of fiu-ther progress, by grammar and dic- tionary, is then impeded by the attention required to other duties; hence the neglect so much com-
