About this work

Description

The schoolboys are Lord Melbourne, Lord Lansdowne, Lord Dunzannon, Lord John Russell, Thomas Spring-Rice, Lord Morpeth and Lord Palmerston. At this time O'Connell was lobbying for an adjustment of tithes and corporate reform for Ireland but repeal of the Union was his ultimate aim. The conservatives had a small majority in the House of Commons and relied on the support of the Irish members led by O'Connell
