About this work

Description

Chromolitho card showing a rather camp looking dark-haired, moustached sailor from the ribs upwards. He is wearing a red cap with a black pompom and a grey and pink banded sleeveless t-shirt, steering a sailboat and holding a bottle of Compound Oxygen in his right hand. Boats are sailing on the ocean behind him. The card advertises Drs. Starkey & Palen's Compound Oxygen home treatment and inhalation therapy sessions in their Philadelphia surgery. The compound apparently contained 'ozone' or some product containing 1 part of oxygen to 5 of nitrogen. It is extremely vague as to what it miraculously cured.
