About this work

Description

Photograph of the skull from a male lion (Panthera leo). This skull shows the short jaw of the lion with extensive attachments for facial muscle to enable a powerful bite. The long canine teeth are designed to go deep into the prey whilst the scissor like carnassial teeth can cut through skin and flesh easily.
