Description
The caduceus of Hermes was supposed to represent medicine, following the US Army's adoption of it as a medical symbol in error for the staff of Aesculapius. The clenched fist represents fighting for social change. The red star may represent communism. Miffland was the name given to the counterculture of the Mifflin Street neighborhood in Madison, Wisconsin, ca. 1969
