The film explains in simple terms how the body protects itself against the entry of bacteria and viruses, and how it destroys them once they have entered. It shows how the skin and mucus membrane acts as barriers, and illustrates the action of white cells and macrophages, and the lymphocyte role in producing antibodies and acting as "killer" cells. There is a brief section on immunisation and antibiotics.
