About this work
Description
Documentary looking at the varying portrayal of doctors in television dramas over the years. Examples are given from Dr. Kildare, Casualty, MASH, Chicago Hope, Emergency Ward 10, Dr. Finlay's Casebook and Cardiac Arrest. Actors who have played doctors and nurses talk about their experiences and describe why they think medical dramas are important. We also hear from the real-life medics who act as advisors to script-writers on medical tv dramas. They talk about the crossover between medical fact and fiction and how to avoid stretching medical credibility beyond belief so that drama does not take complete precedence over reality.
