The letters and papers relate mainly to publications, the work of the hôpital St Louis, Paris, where Alibert was chief physician from 1807, as well as to other patients and Alibert's social life. Apart from letters there are medical bulletins, certificates, prescriptions and notes for the Press. Correspondents include fellow doctors, health officials, patients, booksellers and literary protegés. There are two letters to Antoine Laurent de Jussieu (1748-1836) on the chair of materia medica at Paris, to which Alibert was elected in 1823. Other correspondents include Gilbert Breschet (1784-1845), Jules Germain Cloquet (1790-1885) and Hippolyte Royer-Collard (1802-1850).
