Description
A one-off box set along the lines of The Clinico-Pathological Conference (CPC) series of programmes designed to provide the pharmaceutical industry who sponsored their production with educational material to promote discussion with the medical profession. Two of the three patients would benefit from treatment with Ranitidine (brand name Zantac); one won't. The video series gives the viewer the opportunity to decide which patient and video to watch.

1/4 Introduction to Programme Video 1 is an outline of the case histories as told by friends, family and their GPs. Patient one, Mr Jameson, is an elderly retiree who really needs a hip replacement but whose overall health is declining. Mr Michael O'Gorman is in his twenties; he has a history of dyspepsia; as do his family (he is characterised as a hard drinking Glaswegian who is a Ranger supporter). Finally, Joan Wright, has intermittent digestive problems, she had an ulcer. She collapsed after a bout of the flu and after taking over the counter flu medicine containing aspirin. 2/4 Patient 1 - John Jameson Video 2 for Mr John Jameson if he was your choice as the 'odd man out'. He has an obstructive airways disease. Even with this various health conditions, it is decided that he is a candidate for the treatment. Joan Wright is also suitable. Michael O'Gorman is the odd man out and he should be encouraged to make some lifestyle changes, especially relating to smoking.
