An episode in the novel Amelia by Henry Fielding: on the evidence of the watchman, Mr Gotobed, William Booth is brought before Jonathan Thrasher, Justice of the Peace of the city of Westminster, on a mistaken charge of assaulting the watchman and breaking his lantern. He is sentenced to be imprisoned in Newgate prison, London
