About this work

Description

This programme examines the findings of a US study which concluded that silicone implants may actually reduce the growth of breast cancers. It also looks at problems some women have developed after having silicone implants, such as fatigue, pain and bowel problems. Scientists and doctors are divided over whether implants pose any threat to the body, although some research suggests that women with implants are less likely to develop breast cancer, possibly due to the pressure that the implant places on the tissue - it decreases blood supply, and tumour cells possibly do not grow as a result. The programme is illustrated by large-breasted women running down streets etc.
