About this work
Description
Advertising card for Pond's extract (of witch hazel apparently). This shows a silhouette of a young boy climbing a lamp post and lighting the gas light with a pipe. A church spire, trees and a building with awning and shutters is behind him. The extract was useful for piles, burns, scalds, bruises, sprains, sore eyes, "female complaints", ulcers, old sores, open wounds, toothache, faceache, bites of insects and sore feet. The company originally came together in 1849 as the T.T. Pond Company.
