Description
This recording is of interviews with former colleagues and pupils of pioneering cardiologist, Sir Thomas Lewis. The interviews were conducted by Dr. Arthur Hollman in preparation for his biography on Lewis: 'Sir Thomas Lewis: pioneer cardiologist and clinical scientist', London; New York: Springer, c1996. Dr. Joan Stokes, interviewed on 25 July 1974, remenisces about being Lewis' student at University College Hospital, 1937-1945. Sir John McMichael, Wellcome Trustee and former Professor of Medicine at Hammersmith Hospital, is interviewed 31 July 1974 [the beginning of his interview is missing but he is re-introduced later on in the recording]. He was a student of Lewis 1922-27 and worked with him 1934-1943 and provides much context to Lewis' work.
