The second of fifty-one plates first published in Steven Blankaart's De nieuw hervormde anatomie ofte ontleding des menschen lichaams, Amsterdam 1686. These plates are made up of uncredited reduced copies of previously published illustrations, several to a page. In the notes to this plate in James Drake's Anthropologia nova (London 1707, 2 vols), where the Blankaart plates were published in an appendix to the first volume, the sources for these illustrations of the heart are identified as Caspar Bauhin, Thomas Bartholin and Richard Lower. In addition, the observation is made that all the figures have been reversed. Figure 7, at the top right of the plate, is taken from Lower's Tractatus de corde (London 1669), pl. 1, fig. 1
