![Yi^eridce. b. Lozenges. (TrocJiisci ch viperd.) Presented by Mr. D. Hanbury, Note.—The fat of the viper was formerly used as an eye ointment, and the flesh made into a broth and wine, supposed to possess invigorating properties. See Lewis, Mat. Med., p. 665. The lozenges are button- shaped pieces about the size of a farthing, and have a bust with some illegible words around it stamped upon them. CLASS, AYES. ORDER, NATATORES. SPHENISGIDJE. 821.
