About this work

Description

Transmission electron micrograph showing conjunctival columnar epithelial cells containing pigment granules (melanosomes). Two of the nuclei to the left of the picture have visible nucleoli and desmosomes can be seen between the two rows of epithelial cells. The basement membrane lies to the right of the epithellial cells and a small capillary can be seen to the far right of the picture. The epithelial cell nuclei are approximately 5nm in diameter.
