About this work

Description

Pergamum (Pergamos, near Bergama, Turkey. The ruins of the citadel are seen near the river. A village is seen to the left of the ruins, while the ancient church of St. John (the "Red Basilica") is in the centre. The mount of Yunt (Aspordenon in Greek) is seen in the background. The church at Pergamum was one of the Seven Churches to whom the Book of Revelation was addressed (Revelation 1:4)
