Description

Rāma is the seventh incarnation of Vishnu

The gods were in fear of Rāvana and in their terror they turned to Vishnu for deliverance, who resolved to manifest himself as the childless King Dasa-ratha's son. As Dasa-ratha performed one of his many sacrifices, Vishnu appeared as a glorious being, giving Dasa-ratha a pot of nectar who in turn gave it to his wives, half of which went to Kausalyā who brought forth Rāma
