I have now laid before you the prin¬ cipal obfervations which occurred to me in my journey through Swifferland : hap¬ py ! if they may in any refpeft have con¬ tributed to your information or arnufe- ment. They were originally intended merely as a private memorial of friend- fhip; but I have an additional iatisfafiion in the very unexpected opportunity they now afford me of more openly testifying the fincere efteem with which 1 am.
