Description

This is a videoed debate of the Nuclear War Tribunal which took place in 1985 organised by barristers. The legal argument is that nuclear arms are illegal under international law. Two barristers analyse the 'rules' as set out in law. The participants in the tribunal included Professor Richard Falk, Professor Dorothy Hodgkin, Professor Maurice Wilkins and Sean MacBride. They were asked to address their arguments to the treaties etc which were in place. The Nuremburg Principles are discussed in relation to nuclear warfare. Jean Hutchinson from Greenham Common speaks. The tribunal rules that nuclear weapons are illegal.
