About this work

Description

Leaflet advertising Bovril beef extract. It depicts two soldiers from "the South Africa Campaign" on a dark brown background, one with a bandaged head handing the other a jar of Bovril rather than ammunition. The text on the reverse states that "The War Office authorities have caused Bovril to be shipped to the sick and wounded in the field Hospitals during The South Africa Campaign" and that "Bovril has been adopted for permanent use in many hundreds of British hospitals, infirmaries and kindred institutions."
