Craig was an active itinerant phrenologist in the 1830s and 40s. He also lectured on phrenology and on mesmerism. He was an Owenite socialist and an organiser of the Ralahine Commune in Ireland ('Phrenology in the British Isles', R. Cooter, London 1989, p. 87)
