Description
Scanning electron micrograph showing a close up image of the abdomen of a tick. The concertina structure allows the body to expand and fill with blood as the tick feeds. Ticks are small arachnids and external parasites that live of the blood of other animals and are vectors of a number of diseases including Lyme disease.
