About this work
Description
An in depth, personal look at how the dying are cared for in Britain today. Each participant videos their own experiences on a video diary. 68-year-old Harry Pinner is in the final stages of emphysema. His wife does most of his care and Harry wants to die at home. We see how difficult it is for his wife to receive any kind of medical support at home. 62-year-old Annie Walters has motor neurone disease. She has no family or children to look after her so she moved into a care home but needs desperately to be in a nursing home as she has very little access to palliative care and is frequently in severe pain. It takes her 6 months to get moved. 80-year-old Ken Rasheed has Parkinson's disease and has suffered a seizure. His daughter films him secretly and it is clear that he is not receiving consistent care. He deteriorates and develops two serious hospital infections then dies in hospital without ever making it home again.
