About this work

Description

According to the lettering, the well head was dedicated to Neptune and used for drawing water for sacrifices; it was formerly in the Villa Farnesina, Rome, as was the funerary urn. The ladle was formerly in the museum of Athanasius Kircher. The terracotta reliefs were of symbols of the god Mercury
