The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Silver gelatin print 'fan photo', inscribed verso, and dated 1967. De Lancy is shown in a photograph which appears to date from the 1950s, and the style of the drag and make-up is more typical of that period, than of 1967. Inscription is to Ellis Ashton, MBE (1919-1985), theatre historian and president of the British Music Hall Society."
