About this work
Description
Commonplace book, containing notes on philosophy, logic, grammar, literary composition, Latin verses, sermons, etc.: including a transcript of the 'Ars memorativa' by Jacobus Publicius, and an incomplete Latin-German Glossary of Herbs, etc.: in Latin.
Two leaves are wanting between fol. 76 and fol. 77, and one leaf after ff. 21, 151: the end of the Glossary after P is missing.
Some headings, etc. are in cypher: a key to which has been inserted.
Some initials, paragraph marks, headings, and underlinings in red.
On fol. 7 is a rough pen-drawing of the Cosmos over a crude map of the earth, and on fol. 18v a chess-board of 64 squares, on fol. 31v a diagram illustrating the syllogism. On fol. 68 is a note of books lent by an early 17th cent. owner. On fol. 121 is an impression of a seal, the details of which are obscure, but it is lettered G. H. On the first leaf is the signature of Alessandro Padoani [c. 1600?].
No. 1, the 'Ars memorativa' was first printed at Venice in 1482.
Produced in Freiburg.
