Description

Section consists of papers, lecture notes and notebooks from Vane's educational years spent at Birmingham University, then Oxford University, and finally at Yale University. Vane studied Chemistry at Birmingham as his first degree where he graduated at the age of 19 in 1946. Vane then moved to Oxford University where he took a degree in pharmacology as his second degree. Vane received his pharmacology degree from Oxford in 1949, before staying on at Oxford to complete a D.Phil. in 1953. Prior to completing his D.Phil. Vane spent a year out to lecture in pharmacology at Sheffield University. After leaving Oxford Vane went to Yale University, Connecticut, U.S.A. in 1953 and remained there for two years in the Department of Pharmacology where he held the position of Assistant Professor.
