Deposited with the Wellcome Unit at Oxford by Mrs. H.W. Acworth (née Buzzard), via Lieut.-Col. H.C.M Watson F.R.C.Path., at an unknown date; transferred to the library at Wellcome Collection in 1996.

Biographical note

Captain Mason-MacFarlane was born in 1891 and was the younger son of Lieut.-Col. David Mason-MacFarlane of the Seaforth Highlanders. He was educated at Rugby, trained at Sandhurst in 1909-1910 and was gazetted to the 7th (Queen's Own) Hussars in India. On the outbreak of war in 1914 he returned to Europe, serving as signals officer attached to various regiments. In 1916 he was posted to Egypt where he was killed whilst commanding a company of the Imperial Camel Corps.
