Description

Black and white photograph of the view of a plantation of Cinchona ledgeriana in Java, with a nursery for Cinchona succirubra seedlings in the foreground. The original photograph was lent by Professor A. Tschirch (of the Pharmaceutical Institute of the University of Berne) for Malaria section of the international celebration and exhibition : three hundredth anniversary of the first recognized use of cinchona by Europeans, 1630-1930, an exhibition hosted by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum in 1930. The photograph is listed as exhibit no. 471 in the souvenir catalogue. The item is not held by Wellcome Collection.
