Photograph of an oil painting by H. Room, of James Blundell (1790-1878), English obstetrician who performed the first successful blood transfusion. The painting was acquired at auction from Fosters on 22nd February 1929, Lot 704 and accessioned by the Wellcome Historical Medical Museum on 18th June 1929 (CC 4977).
