Photograph of Maitland Cecil Melville Wills M.C., J.P., (1891-1966), a writer of detective novels under the name Cecil M. Wills, wearing an 18th century country style costume with laced bodice and bonnett. This photograph was likely taken in a photographic studio when he was a student. Certain photographic studios (such as the publisher of this card 'Rapid Electric Studio', of Sheffield and branches) would carry a variety of fancy dress for subjects who wished to be photographed in costume.
