6 June, 1919. Berkhamsted, J A Hill (Secretary, William Cooper & Nephews) to A R Chamberlayne, Westminster, with manuscript statement of valuations (land and buildings, stocks, bank debts) for overseas businesses.
18 July, 1919. Berkhamsted, William Cooper & Nephews to A R Chamberlayne, concerning J Hayward, Dunkirk Road, Nr Faversham, Kent, to whom "Arsenate of Lead Paste and AS Fluid" was supplied. Compensation matter: "we cannot for one moment admit that our preparations were responsible for the damage to the trees in question."
21 July, 1919. Draft letter to the Market Gardeners Nurserymen & Farmers Association concerning J Hayward. No responsibility admitted, supply of further "fluid for his next spraying" offered.

20 December, 1919. Draft (approved) Agreement between Sir R A Cooper and William Cooper & Nephews Ltd for or sale and purchase of Goodwill, Works, Stocks etc of businesses at Berkhamsted, Herts and Kelvindale, near Glasgow, and other parts of the world (except as within mentioned).
9 April, 1920. Copy document headed "Foreign Companies" (author not indicated). "The attached conveys thoughts that have occurred to me since our last meeting on above subject."

15 July, 1920. Draft letter, R A Cooper to the Directors of William Cooper & Nephews Limited, referring to Conveyance of Lower Works, Berkhamsted. Formerly consisted of four cottages, the deeds to which were deposited along with other deeds with London County & Westminster Bank, as collateral security for an Annuity of £1,000 payable to R A Cooper's Aunt, Mrs Marian Cooper. Therefore, Cooper is unable to hand deeds over. "I undertake to duly pay and discharge the said Annuity and to hand over the deeds to you when they come into my possession."
22 July, 1920. Copy letter, J W Milne to P R Clarke (Financial Manager, William Cooper & Nephews Ltd), referring to financial aspects of draft Agreement drawn up by Mr Chamberlayne.
3 August, 1920. Westminster, A R Chamberlayne to C V Rawlence, Lincolns Inn, headed "Cooper Companies", referring to assistance with draft documents. "I have more than once advised the Directors upon the question of goodwill and shall raise the point again. Unfortunately Sir Richard has many friends who advise him but few advisers...."
