The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "The homosexual painter Henry Scott Tuke (1858-1929) was a founder of the Newlyn School of painting. He first moved to Cornwall in the 1880s. He became known for his romanticised portraits of local fisher lads, and became a respected member of the Royal Academy."
