This work is untitled: the title has been supplied by the cataloguer.
The following description was provided by James Gardiner: "Eugen Sandow (Friedrich Wilhelm Muller 1867-1925), the most famous strongman of all time, and considered to be the father of modern bodybuilding. From his first appearance as a music hall turn in London in 1889 he caused a sensation, based not solely on his feats of strength but on his striking physical appearance. He was the first strongman to appear on film, shot by Edison in 1894. He opened his own Institute of Physical Culture and published his own manuals and an autobiography 'Life is movement' in 1918. Postcards such as this example, avidly collected by both men and women, were sold in the tens of thousands."
