About this work
Description
Album contains c.100 private photographs taken of men wearing military uniforms, some in suggestive poses or holding paddles, with a particular focus on breeches and puttees which Quint fetishised. Multiple small photographs have been stuck on each page. There is also a greetings card and a postcard stuck on the inside of the front and back covers respectively, and a pencil drawing of a man smoking in military uniform inside.
The diary is dated 1937 and begins with daily entries including visits to the cinema, music and theatre rehearsals, and tap dancing lessons. After March 3rd there are another seven entries (May 21st, July 17th, 21st July, 28th July, 1st August, 4th August, 8th August) which refer to Quint's sexual encounters ,or possibly fantasies, with other men. Further details are noted including name and rank at the beginning of the diary.
Previously on display in Queer British Art at the Tate.
